Hey folks - I'm excited to share this recent podcast conversation I had with my friend Scott Britton. Thanks to Scott's great questions and the synergy between our perspectives, I think some uniquely clear and robust moments and takeaways came through. We go deep into the question of what it takes to fulfill our highest potential as human beings — and how wilderness rites of passage and the journey of soul initiation can help us get there. One of my favorite parts of the conversation was digging into the challenge of incorporating peak awakening experiences into our everyday lives. I think this is a huge need in our current society. Today’s conversation dives deep into the realm of the soul and the initiatory experience.

Brooks Barron

is a leadership coach and wilderness guide. One of the reasons I was excited to chat with Brooks is the formative role nature plays in his work helping people make contact with their soul and bring its expression into reality. In my opinion, this is the pathway we reach our full potential.

In this conversation, we talk about the pan-cultural tradition of the initiatory process and why it can be so impactful in our growth journeys. We explore how multi-day fast vision quests in nature can create a container for the process of soul initiation.

It seems like we are at an interesting and exciting time as a society where there are more access points for people to touch this deeper part of the Self.

Where Brooks and I both see opportunity and spend time discussing is the journey of moving from peak experience to embodiment of our Soul’s deepest desires on a day-to-day basis. These waters can be murky, so this was such a fun conversation to dive into. My two cents is that one of the most helpful assets during this unfolding is learning to trust the unknown.

Lately, I’ve been meeting lots of people who feel called to something bigger than what they’re currently doing for a vocation. There’s a feeling that they’re meant to do something more, but they’re unsure how to make it work due to financial reasons or something else.

Brooks and I go deep on some ideas on how to navigate this experience and what he’s seen work well with his clients. For anyone amid this experience, I think there are some great nuggets here.
